The Hertford British Hospital offers consultations, not only by English speaking staff, but also by Doctors, nurses and midwifes actually trained in the United Kingdom. UK trained personnel have English as their mother tongue, and speak fluent French, enabling them to act as your interface with the French health service.
An English-speaking General Practitioner is available for consultation every
day by appointment. General Practice follows the British system of a Doctor
acting as a 'gate keeper', thereby monitoring specialist referrals and
continuing general health care for each individual patient.
British trained General
Practitioners are qualified to treat both children and adults in a wide variety
of clinical areas.
An English speaking Doctor is available weekly to provide antenatal care in
the second and third trimester of pregnancy. Patients can book their
confinements and receive information in English.
The Hospital provides antenatal classes in English by British and Irish trained
midwives with a long experience of working within both systems. This facility
has been developed to meet the needs of an increasing number of English
speaking women choosing to deliver at the Hertford British Hospital.
Following recent in recent upgrading of the Hertford's Maternity service
unit from a Level 1 service to a Level IIA service, and the opening of new
Paediatric and Neonatal units, the hospital is happy to announce the opening of
the Paediatric consultation service. This service will provide English speaking
Doctors and nurses and will allow the care of Anglophone children in a language
they understand. Obviously the correct diagnosis of medical issues for children
is more difficult than for adults especially if the language used is not
familiar to them.
The service will also provide continuous interaction with the GP and Maternity
services and, therefore, communication will be maintained throughout the three
departments.
