The new Institut Hospitalier Franco-Britannique has been created out of the two existing hospitals, the Hertford British Hospital and the adjacent Hôpital Notre Dame de Perpétuel Secours. Both hospitals are over a hundred years old and have been operating as a combined entity for some time already. It is fully integrated into the French Health Service and provides top-quality medical services to the Levallois and Paris area and to the English-speaking community. It is a registered charity in the UK and operates in France as an Association Loi 1901. The hospital is governed by a Board of Trustees including representatives of the British Embassy in Paris and distinguished members of the British community in France.
Complementing the mainly French medical staff, British and Irish nurses and
midwives are present among the carers and continue the fine traditions of
"English Nursing". Indeed we draw our staff from all over Europe and
can offer a welcome to anybody who needs our care. As a private establishment
participating in the French Public Hospital system, the Hertford charges in
accordance with French Social Security rates for those who are entitled, while
welcoming patients from elsewhere. Some of our General Practitioners are private consultants.
This neighbouring Hospital, less than 300m away, and now merged with the Hertford British Hospital. It offers complementary disciplines and services: Orthopaedic, Urological and Visceral Surgery, Internal Medicine, Long stay patients, Emergency Unit.
The medical and technical teams have long worked in close liaison. The fusion of the two hospitals makes this one of the foremost medical facilities in the Department of the Hauts-de-Seine.
Welcome
A friendly greeting, speedy and simplified administrative procedures, bilingual
English / French telephone and reception welcome patients and their families.
The Centre for Women, Mothers and Children
Maternity - Neonatality - Paediatrics
In 2006 the Hertford expanded its capability to provide complete healthcare services for women, mothers-to-be and children. The hospital has been chosen by the French Health Authorities, in a reorganisation of the specialities in the Paris area, to take over the Neonatology and Paediatric units of the neighbouring hospital Notre Dame de Perpétuel Secours and our Surgical and General Medicine have been transferred to their premises.
In
2006 our hospital handled over 1700 deliveries. Our medium term goal is to
handle up to 2000 deliveries a year, while being able to maintain the excellent
relationship we have developed between staff and patient, and of which we
are justly proud.
Our Maternity is classified as a Class 2A unit, part of the network led by the Hospital at CLAMART.
The equivalent of 9 full-time Doctors, of whom 6 are Obstetrical & Gynaecological Surgeons, deal with all medical and surgical conditions of our female patients, and the new Paediatrics and Neonatology units have 7 full-time specialists for 26 beds for babies and children.
Department of Anaesthesia
We have 5 full time Anaesthetists and 2 qualified Nurse Anaesthetists, which
allows us to provide complete coverage night and day for surgery, obstetrics
and generally the fight against pain.
Night cover is provided solely by the Hospital's own Anaesthetists without
recourse to external personnel.
Outpatient Consultations
The attractive Outpatient Consulting department located on the ground floor of the hospital holds consultations daily by appointment in a variety of specialties mostly related to Women,Mothers and Children.
Our Outpatient Consultations are complemented by the presence within the Hospital of a Physiotherapy centre, a well-equipped Radiology-Ultrasound Department and a Medical Analysis Laboratory, all of which can help to shorten diagnosis and treatment times for our patients.
Consultations in English
English speaking patients can consult with 2 British trained and qualified General Practitioners, particularly aimed at those in need of consultation in the area of General Medicine and Gynaecology. Most of our Medical staff are able to communicate with their patients in English.
