Alcohol - Alcoholic drinks are strictly forbidden.
Anaesthetist - If you're awaiting for surgery, an anaesthetist will come and examine you the evening before your operation and again every two days afterwards until your release. AN anaesthetists is on duty day and night should you have need of one.
Bandages and dressings - Bandaging will depend on the nature of the surgery. You may need to find a nurse who will help you with dressings when you get home.
Companionship - If you're alone, and should you so wish it, visits by volunteer hospital visitors can be arranged. They are there to bring you a bit of warmth and friendliness to help you combat boredom and pain. Our staff will help you get in touch with these Associations.
Diet - Before eating anything brought in by visitors, please check that your diet is not restricted.
Discharge - Your discharge will be arranged by your doctor in Votre sortie se fera le jour fixé en accord avec votre médecin, dans le respect des horaires du service des admissions (10 h 30 -13 h 00 en semaine, 10 h 00 -12 h 00 le samedi). Day patients must be accompanied in order to be allowed to leave the hospital.
Exeats - With the permission of your Doctor, you may be allowed to go outside the hospital.
Fire - Should you notice anything abnormal (smell, smoke,
rustling, flames…):
-immediately use your bell to alert the duty personnel;
-keep calm ;
-don't try to get up if you're not fit to do so.
If you can :
-close windows and doors ;
-wait before leaving your room until told to do so by
hospital staff who will guide you to the nearest safety exit;
-do not use the lifts (elevators).
Games - Several board games are availabale - just ask an attendant.
Hospital bill - The daily charge, 'ticket modérateur', and any private room charges shold be settled with Admissions before leaving. Out of office hours the charges should be paid at the Reception Desk.
Interphone - Nursing staff can speak to you through the interphone when you ring for assistance.
Jewellery and valuables - The hospital declines all responsibility for the loss of jewelleery, valuables or money left in your room. These should be left with your family or in the safe at Admissions.
K is for Kiwis - birds, New Zealanders and fruit!
Lost property - Please report any loss of property immediately. You are reminded please not to leave money or valuables in your room.
Menus - A hostess will offer you a selection from which you may choose your meals for the following day. You may also use a Sodexho card.
Mobiles - Mobile phones are strictly forbidden inside the hospital as they may interfere with medical equipment.
Money - Never leave money or valuables in your room. PLease leave money and valuable at Admissions. Some rooms are equipped with private safes.
Movement - You will get up on the day following your surgery with a few exceptions, such as spinal or prosthetic operations.
Numbers - Remember to dial "o" for an outside line. Dial the operator (9) to place a call outside the Paris region (Ile de France).
Nursing hours - One nurse (or midwife) will look after you from 8AM to 8PM and another from 8PM to 8AM.
Pain - After your operation don't hesitate to ask your nurse for pain relievers whenever you feel the need rather than letting the pain get worse.
Private rooms - Private rooms (at a cost of 61 € / day) can be had subject to availability. (Meals may also be ordered for visitors.)
Questionnaire - You will be given a questionnaire about your stay when you arrive, please complete it and hand it in before you leave.
Reading materials - Books and magazines are available in the lounges on each floor.
Religion - You can ask at any time to be seen by a
representative of your faith who can be contacted on th efollowing numbers:

Rest - Respect other patients' need for peace and quiet just as they respect yours. Please keep radio and television sound down, particularly after 9:00 PM.
Shaving/Epilation - Before your procedure, a nurse will check that you've shaved yourself according to your pre-operative instructions.
Showers and preoperative showering - You can have a shower even with a wound or scar, ask your nurse or surgeon. You must have a shower before an operation.
Smoking - Smoking is strictly forbiden throughout the building and in the rooms.
Telephone - Telephones are available in all rooms upon payment of a deposit. Calls are charged at 0.23 € per unit.
Television - The rental company Locatel comes round every day
between 4 pm and 5 pm every weekday. Nursing staff will provide you with a
remote control. Weekend arrivals may still have a television, the account
can be settled with Locatel during the week following .
Charges (as of 01/06/03): 3,8 €/day, 23 €/week, 76 €/month.
Tiredness - After a big operation it is quit normal for you to feel tired for up to three weeks or a month after the procedure.
Uniforms - Nurses and physiotherapists wear white, midwives wear pink, nursing assistants and paediatric auxiliaries wear blue and ancillary staff wear green.
Vending machines - Cold and hot drinks and snacks are available from the vending machine on the ground floor. A daily paper is likewise available.
Visiting hours - From 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily. For medical
reasons visits by children under 15 are not allowed except in Maternity by the
baby's siblings.
In maternity visiting hours are 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, except for the fathers, who
may visit at any time.
Week-end - With medical approval you can get a Weekend Pass
which will allow you to leave the hospital for up to 48 hours.
Please be sure to sign all the necessary paperwork.
Welcome - The hostess at the desk at reception is there to help you. She can answer your questions and will direct you to the right people.
