Indeed the fight against post-operative pain is a priority with a full range of interventions possible, such as the use of local/regional anaesthetics or PCA morphine pumps.
Any woman may ask for an obstetrical epidural anaesthetic, night or day. The procedure is free of charge. In fact it is used in around 95% of obstetrical cases.

The anaesthetists do their best to ensure that patient's stay in hospital is
as short and as comfortable as possible. To this end a certain number of
procedures may be performed on a Day-patient or an Out-patient basis.
